Skill listings are how you highlight your expertise through skills and experience to let employers know you are open to gigs. Create a detailed skill listing to land the exact gig you want. Adding a skill listing makes your profile visible to the employers to bid.

Creating a skill listing is a requirement to bid on gigs or to receive bids from interested employers. Without a skill listing, you won’t be able to participate in the bidding process or showcase your profile to potential employers.

If the bid you’ve received doesn’t meet your expectations, simply click on ‘Not interested’. Alternatively, if you require assistance in making a decision, feel free to initiate a chat with the employer directly on the platform.

We don’t, necessarily! Our AI does. We will only contact you if our system matches your skill density and career interests to an open position based on your contract preferences and licensing that would be worth your while to know about. With that said, please use the messaging feature within our marketplace to communicate with SkillGigs teams if and when you have a question.

Talent can post a skill listing just like you would if you were using eBay to sell a product. But in this case, you are letting the employers in our marketplace know you are available to work on a full-time or contract basis. By doing this, you open yourself up to marketing bidding, which creates a pipeline of possible employer suitors for you. This allows you to the power of choice and a way to find the perfect job fit.

If you receive a bid – congrats! Receiving a bid means your 3D Resume (Pat.) caught the attention of one of our top employers. Not only will you receive email and SMS notifications when this happens, but you can also find all bids in your dashboard through your SkillGigs account. Bids are a gateway for employers to communicate with you directly, and they are not permitted to send any messages or interview requests prior to placing a bid, bringing the power back to you! It is important to note when bidding, such as your hourly rate calculated by our bidding technology is confidentially between employers and you.

Our software will automatically calculate the bill rate that employers will receive when you send in a bid and when you receive a bid your hourly rate is calculated based off the bill rate an employer desires to start bidding for your talent. Both of you can accept or deny BID request, empowering your both make final decisions on whether the opportunity to work together is the right fit. For more on bidding, contact us with any additional questions.

We offer talent a stealth mode option, which provides ultimate privacy protection at all times. Job seekers select which employers are restricted from viewing their listings. Once talent creates a skill listing in our marketplace, that listing will only show up in an employer’s search results if the talent has consented to it.

Sorting Options:

In addition to budget filters, we’ve also introduced sorting options to further customize your search experience. You can now sort candidates by their desired rate in two ways:

Desired Rate High to Low: Find candidates who may have higher budget expectations but offer exceptional skills and experience.

Desired Rate Low to High: Discover cost-effective candidates who fit your budget without compromising on quality.

How does batch bidding work?

Whether you’re interested in individual or multiple bidding, the process remains the same.

Here’s a quick overview:

Select Candidates: Choose candidates whose skill listings you want to bid on by selecting the checkbox on their skill listing card or you can select all at once.

View Selection: See the number of skill listings you’ve chosen, e.g., “Place a bid on 4 skill listings,”.

Initiate Bidding: Click “Place a bid,” and you’ll enter the bidding flow, where you can place bids for both contract and permanent positions.

Bidding flow:

  1. Review your selected skill listings and remove any candidates you no longer wish to bid on.
  2. Choose the gig you want to bid on.
  3. Add your bid amount.
  4. Provide gig details, including the ideal start date, contract length, and job description.
  5. Review all bid details from steps 1 to 4.

Here are the detailed steps on how to ‘make an offer’ to a candidate from the Manage Candidate page:

Step 1: Login to the SkillGigs platform as an employer using your credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to the “Candidate tracking system” through burger menu. This is where you’ll track and manage the progress of your candidates.

Step 3: Within the “Manage Candidate Stages,” locate the candidate for whom you wish to make an offer.

Step 4: In the candidate’s profile, you will find a section labelled “Status”. Click on this section to access the candidate’s status settings.

Step 5: Within the candidate’s status settings, you will see various options. Look for and select “Make an offer” to initiate the offer process for the chosen candidate.

Step 6: After selecting “Make an offer,” a pop-up window will appear. In this pop-up, you will need to provide the following details:

  1. Offer Start and End Date: Specify the start and end dates for the offer validity period. This is the timeframe during which the candidate can consider and respond to the offer.
  2. Estimated Pay Package: Enter the details of the proposed pay package for the candidate. This may include salary, hourly rate, or other compensation components.
  3. Offer Message: Compose a personalized message to accompany the offer. This message can include additional details, benefits, or any other information relevant to the offer.
  4. Upload Offer Letter: Attach the formal offer letter that outlines the terms and conditions of the employment or engagement.
  5. Click on ‘Send Offer’: Once you have filled in all the required details and attached the offer letter, click on the “Send Offer” button to officially extend the offer to the candidate.

Step 7: After clicking “Send Offer,” the candidate will be notified of the offer. They will receive a notification along with the attached offer letter for their review.

By following these steps, you can efficiently make an offer to a candidate from Manage Candidate within the SkillGigs platform. This process ensures that the offer is communicated clearly and professionally to the candidate, streamlining the hiring process.

Travel Nurse FAQs

A travel nurse is a nurse that gets to pick when and where they work. Because the demand for nurses is high, many healthcare systems are experiencing shortages. They seek out traveling nurses to work a specific position for a short period of time, usually from six to 13 weeks. In addition to your valid professional licenses, you need one year of recent hospital or long term care-based nursing experience and good references. Remember you can only practice in the state you are licensed in, so you’ll have more opportunities if you maintain multiple state licenses and if you possess flexibility. The minimum travel nursing requirements depend on your area of specialty, as well as the facility, unit, and sometimes even the location of the position. The facilities we work with have different requirements and preferences, but the majority of them request a minimum of two years of experience. Bidding is a key component to how SkillGigs e-commerce talent marketplace works. Bids are non-binding, but they indicate how interested a hospital is in your professional profile. Not only will you receive an email notification when this happens, but you can also find all bids in your dashboard through your SkillGigs account. Once you have completed the signup process in SkillGigs and have input your specialty and desired location, you should start to receive bids from facilities. You also have the option to browse the marketplace and see which opportunity aligns best with your needs. SkillGigs puts you in the driver’s seat when choosing your assignment.

Rest assured, SkillGigs ensures prompt payments. Your earnings will be disbursed on a weekly basis, providing you with financial stability throughout your travel assignment. Our user-friendly payroll app is readily accessible, accompanying you 24/7, wherever you go.

SkillGigs uses Paychex as your employment portal for all things payroll, benefits, and yearly W-2 documents. As for payroll timing, that will be provided to you after your official clearance/FDI notification. This will occur after completing the onboarding process.

Typically, assignment lengths vary according to the facility and the type of assignment you want based on your needs — however, a standard assignment lasts 13 weeks.

The turnaround time for your bid to get approved from the facility can be as little as 24 hours if your appropriate documents are in order, and the compensation is ready. If not, your approval process can take up to 1 week.

Your Your Healthcare Relationship Manager (HRM) will advise you on the specific requirements for the state in which you have chosen to take an assignment. To see if your license is apart of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) check here.

The facility that you will work in is based on your professional specialty. We provide roles across all major modalities including the following specialties: med surg, ICU, PCU, OR, ER, CVOR, OT, PT, CNA, LPN, LVN, and many other registered nurse and allied health positions.

SkillGigs offers assignments in all 50 states, including the U.S. Virgin Island. Choose where you want to go, and we’ll get you there!

All of our assignments are for full-time, 36-to 40-hour workweeks. Also, if you’d like more hours, many assignments offer the opportunity to work overtime. We call this max bid potential.

These requirements vary based on what assignment you accept. However, the standard health documents and certificates normally apply to any travel position. These include proof of immunizations (MMR, Hep B, Varicella, TDAP), Physical and TB test within 1 year, BLS and other nursing/therapy certifications, i.e.: TNCC, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS. You might expect to complete specific facility learning/training as well.

The pay rate is based on facility location and bill rate we charge to the facility. With the SkillGigs Total Transparency feature, we have an intuitive bill rate calculator that allows you to set your desired hourly rate without worrying about hidden fees.

First day instructions will be provided once you have met all of the credentialing and onboarding requirements and have been cleared by the facility. These instructions will include who and when to report, what color scrubs to wear, and what to bring. Typically, your final schedule for the week will be given to you during your first day of orientation.

We are a client-based service, so we are a completely free resource for you. The hospital clients pay any additional fees required to hire you. All-Inclusive — is a travel package option where all of your maximized Per Diem is offered to you.  With maximum per diem allowable offered to you for full control:  this pay package gives the full control back to you to set up your own housing cost and meals/incidentals/travel expenses (M&IE) that are tax free.  You are able to collect back and pocket any surplus tax free per diem income that was not used up in setting up your own housing and M&IE.

Non All-Inclusive — consists of weekly or monthly issued stipends for housing and/or travel. Your healthcare relationship manager will work with you to adjust your pay rate based off your total issued stipends for your contract. For further details, consult with their Account Manager or Healthcare Relationship Manager.

Your first check date is based on the type of contract you accept. For all-inclusive contracts, your check will be issued on the first Friday from your start date. All others will be paid the third Friday from your start date. This is subject to changed based on when your start date.

YES! We welcome and appreciate any referrals you send to us. Under the SkillGigs referral program, you’re eligible for a bonus up to $500 depending on the specialty after someone is placed. Reach out to your Healthcare Relationship Manager (HRM) for more details or contact us.

Timesheets should be signed by your nurse manager or supervisor and submitted by Monday 10AM CST to: timesheets@skillgigs.com – If it is submitted after the deadline, you could experience a delay of pay. Any issues, contact our help team for support.

No. Your commitment to SkillGigs only extends through the length of the assignment you agree to take.

SkillGigs offers Health Insurance for you and your dependents. You also choose our Dental and Vision Insurance plan while you are on assignment. We also offer 401K and GAP insurance. If eligible, you’ll receive a housing stipend or a higher pay rate of your choice. If you spend less on housing than your stipend, it just means you have more on your paycheck!

There are many options to find short-term housing for talent professionals (travelers), so let’s review.

  • Company Provided Housing — Do know that SkillGigs does not provide company-sponsored housing. We do provide stipends, where eligible, and all-inclusive rates which, as a traveler, tends to be more favorable as it opens up more opportunities and more control on how you manage your paychecks. If you’d like someone to set it for you, then you need to find a company that can set up housing for you. However, keep in mind if a company sets everything up for you, you don’t receive any housing stipend, which is often what makes travel pay so lucrative.
  • Make Your Own Arrangements — Most often, travelers will choose to accept the housing stipend and make their own housing arrangements. As mentioned, if you’re able to find housing for less than the amount they give you for the stipend, you can keep the rest of the stipend and consider it extra pay, which is a huge perk! In our experience, travelers have always been able to arrange housing for much cheaper than the housing allowance overall.

Do know that stipends, for those eligible, are based on the specific state and county of the assignment. SkillGigs uses the standard GSA guidelines for both meals and housing stipends. The details will be covered by our Healthcare Relationship Managers.

Absolutely! Travel nursing with pets is a great way to share the fun and excitement of your travel experiences. If you choose to travel with your pets, please let your Healthcare Relationship Manager (HRM) know before you confirm your assignment.

Many, but not all, housing complexes allow animals, and most have breed and size restrictions. It is important that you let your Healthcare Relationship Manager (HRM) know all of the details regarding your pet(s) so they can best advise you. Check out these helpful tips when traveling with pets.

After your assignment is complete, you have many options. Many facilities will give you the option of extending your current assignment or may offer you a permanent position at their facility. If you prefer, you can travel to a new assignment, or even return home and travel at a later date. It’s entirely up to you.

Updating your skill listing with your expected start date helps ensure that you receive bids for assignments that align with your availability. This means you’ll avoid receiving bids for assignments that start before you are available, streamlining your job search process.

  1. Log in to your SkillGigs account.
  2. Navigate to your profile and find your current skill listing.
  3. Edit the listing to include your expected start date.
  4. Save the changes.

– Reduced Unnecessary Bids: You won’t receive bids for assignments that you cannot start, reducing the clutter in your job search and making it easier to focus on viable opportunities.

Yes, you can update your expected start date at any time. Simply follow the steps to edit your skill listing and adjust the start date as needed.

  1. Top navigation – Skill listing
  2. Click on the 3 dots menu button on the specific skill listing you want to edit
  3. Click on the ‘Edit’ button
  4. Pop-up opens – Edit start date
  5. Click the ‘Update’ button to save it

It’s a good practice to update your expected start date whenever there is a significant change in your availability. Regular updates help ensure that the bids you receive are always aligned with your current schedule. It is best practice to update this as soon as you get on a new assignment. This will ensure that our system starts promoting your skill listing at the right time increasing traffic on your profile, more traffic means more options of high paying assignments to choose from.
